A Visit to Buick Heaven!

PART II

Gray Roadmaster 1.jpg (52725 bytes)
The crown jewel in Doug's collection has to be this magnificent
'41 Roadmaster convertible sedan (model 71C), one of only 312 built

and one of perhaps 30 remaining. Doug restored this one for himself
and went all-out. It's as perfect underneath as it is on top. Also note
the unusual period-correct combination fog/driving lights, which
were an aftermarket product, and are quite different from the usual
round dealer-installed items.

Gray Roadmaster Interior.jpg (63264 bytes)
A look at the interior of Doug's Roadmaster using that same
unique red leather. It is interesting to note that any car with
leather upholstery uses pleated cushions, while the cars with
cloth interiors had 1-piece seatcovers without pleats. I'm still
trying to decide whether I want to go with red leather or the
standard gray broadcloth in my Century.

40 Limited Convertible.jpg (41859 bytes)
If you think the '41 Roadmaster convertible sedan is rare, check
this one out: a 1940
Limited convertible sedan (model 81C), one of
230 built and maybe thirteen left in the world. This car is next in line for a
concours-quality restoration. Doug found it in Arizona, and it's
amazingly rust free and 100% complete. I don't know how he finds
these rare cars, but he's quite good at it.

Black 40 Roadmaster.jpg (42612 bytes)
Another nice driver is this 1940 Roadmaster convertible coupe
model 76C. This one's a driver, but is no less perfect than Doug's
other cars. He is partial to the '40s, and doesn't hesitate to take them
out on the road for a drive. Note the wide whitewall radials on this one.

Thanks, Doug!
