Grinding & Welding

I'm still working in the trunk. I started dressing some of the remaining spot welds and joints, especially those spot welds holding the rear trunk panels I made to the brace underneath. I also finished welding the seam at the passenger's side rear quarter under the taillight and removed the braces that I installed several months ago. With the braces out of the way, I patched the hole in the quarter panel from where I welded the braces in. Finally, I welded up all those holes someone drilled in the driver's side trunk lip and ground them flush.

Grind, then weld, then grind some more...

...Then weld some more to make it perfect. Fortunately the metal
here is thick and sturdy so it is easy to weld and stands up to
grinding much better than sheet metal.

I also purchased a basic lead kit from Eastwood so I can start filling some of the seams in the trunk. I have some lead sticks already, but I'm hesitant to just start loading up the lead in the seams without the "tinning butter" to help adhesion. I'll let you know how it works out, of course, especially since I plan to lead the rest of the body wherever necessary.

Speaking of Eastwood, thanks to all of you who have used the banner up at the top to make your recent purchases--every little bit helps!
